New Evolutions series celebrates 20 years of Pokémon by revisiting the original Pokémon TCG cards.
The Pokémon Company has released the latest expansion to the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG), which will be the final add-on to the XY series. The next expansions to the game are likely to be based on the forthcoming 3DS games, Sun and Moon.
The Evolutions expansion restores the design, look and feel of the classic Base Set cards but includes updated game logic and stats. The nostalgic twist on powerful cards such Mega Venusaur-EX, Mega Charizard-EX, and Mega Blastoise-EX, updates the game, bringing classic cards in line with the current generation.

- Updated logic lets old-school cards compete with newer ones
- Darkness, Metal and Fairy Energy will be available in Base Set frames
- Four new Pokémon BREAK: Ninetales BREAK, Machamp BREAK, Starmie BREAK and Nidoking BREAK
- New Mega Evolution Pokémon: Mega Slowbro-EX and Mega Pidgeot-EX debut
- Mega Venusaur-EX, Mega Charizard-EX, and Mega Blastoise-EX reappear with classic frames
- New Pokémon-EX: Slowbro-EX and Pidgeot-EX debut
- New versions of Mewtwo-EX and Dragonite-EX
- Booster packs: Packs of 10 additional cards selected from the expansion
- Pikachu Power and Mewtwo Mayhem theme decks
