PlayStation 4 exclusive, God of War, topples Far Cry 5 from the top of the UK software chart.

It’s all change at the top of the GFK Chart Track Top 40 Entertainment Software Chart, as Sony’s God of War takes number one spot. The game is the second biggest debut of the year after Far Cry 5, which it bumps into second place. Although the game’s high chart position is to be expected, it’s all the more impressive considering that Amazon UK were not offering pre-orders.

The only other new release to chart inside the top ten is another PS4 exclusive, Sega’s Yakuza 6: Song of Life, which enters at No.3. It’s the franchise’s highest UK chart debut, and well deserved too.

Elsewhere, the top ten sees a slight shuffle of the usual suspects. Super Mario Odyssey on Nintendo Switch moves up two places, from eight to six, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild moves back into the top ten in ninth position.

The Xbox One edition of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds drops three places to eighth, and Rare’s Sea of Thieves slips out of the top ten to eleventh. And down in the lower reaches of the chart, the six-year-old Nintendo 3DS racer, Mario Kart 7, re-enters in at No. 40.

You can see the full UK software chart for the week ending April 21, 2018 at the GFK Chart Track website.
