Many committed Nintendo fans are resigned to the fact that next week they will be buying Mario Kart 8 for a second time.
The game was a huge hit on Wii U, with over eight million of the console’s 13 million owners picking up the 2014 edition of Nintendo’s long-running mascot racer. And next week, we’ll do it all over again when Mario Kart 8 Deluxe comes to the Nintendo Switch.
Of course, it helps that the game is the best iteration of Mario Kart there’s ever been. Deluxe includes all of the original release’s DLC content, some new gameplay tweaks, and a much improved Battle mode. It also looks wonderful, with the Switch version having an improved 1080P resolution, and a solid 60FPS frame-rate for its one and two player modes.
