Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite release date and characters announced

Dark Light

New characters and a release date announced for Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite.

Capcom have released a glut of new information for the much-anticipated, Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite. The good news is that the game now has a confirmed release date, and will hit stores in North America on September 19, 2017.

Story trailer

A new trailer released today reveals more about the campaign’s villain, Ultron Sigma, who is an amalgam of Marvel villain Ultron, and Mega Man X baddie, Sigma. (Do you see what they did there?)  The story campaign – which is a first for the series, sees the iconic characters from the Marvel and Capcom universes attempt to stop Ultron Sigma from infecting all organic life with a cybernetic virus. What a rascal he is.

New characters

As you can see from the trailer, a host of new characters have also been revealed. The game’s roster of playable characters now includes Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye, Rocket Raccoon, Ultron, Chun-Li, Strider Hiryu, and Chris Redfield. They join the previously announced Captain Marvel, Iron Man, Captain America, Ryu, Mega Man X and Morrigan. Each character will feature unique abilities, and have their own iconic special move sets. Infinity Stones can also be used to unleash the elemental forces of Time, Space, and Power.

Gameplay Modes

In addition to the game’s story campaign, the series’ signature 2v2 team battles have been integrated into a variety of single and multiplayer modes. Confirmed single player modes include Arcade, Training and Mission, and Capcom promise more will be announced soon.
