Capcom has announced that Resident Evil 7 will be released for Nintendo Switch, as a streaming game.
So, the Nintendo Switch can stream games now? We didn’t see this one coming, that’s for sure.
Capcom has confirmed that acclaimed survival horror game, Resident Evil 7, is coming to the Nintendo Switch as a streaming game on May 24, 2018.
It’s called the Biohazard Cloud Version, and will be playable via a 45MB downloadable client, plus a reliable – and we presume pretty fast – internet connection. At the moment the game is only set for release in Japan.
Check out the announcement trailer.
Biohazard Cloud Version will be priced around the $20/£16 mark, so assuming you have the connection speed, it’s certainly affordable.
Of course, if the game performs well – both commercially and technically – we have to imagine this could open the door to a huge number of games that the Switch doesn’t have the native technical chops to run, even if it will require being tethered to a WiFi hotspot to play them.
