Ubisoft reveal that 6.4 million players participated in the beta for Tom Clancy’s The Division.

Not only do these figures make it more popular than Holby City, it also means that the game had the ‘biggest ever beta for a new IP on current generation platforms’.

Whilst this little caveat means that The Division doesn’t have to compete for bragging rights with the 9 million who took part in Star Wars Battlefront’s beta, it’s still an impressive figure.

Players spent an average of 4 hours and 52 minutes journeying through The Division’s pandemic-ravaged New York City and more than one-third of that time was spent in the game’s Dark Zone PVP environment.

Magnus Jansen, creative director at Ubisoft said:

“We want to thank the millions of people who joined in on The Division’s Open Beta. We hope everybody enjoyed playing, and we think the beta is going to help ensure a great launch for the game. We’re looking forward to everyone getting their hands on the full game when The Division is released on March 8th.”

The Division launches for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC on 8th March, 2016.
