“For those of you who have been looking forward to a release this year, we apologise.”

Nintendo hasn’t even released the proper title of the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild yet. (That’s why we’re still referring to it as Breath of the Wild 2, for ease.)

All we really know is that it’s set after the first Breath of the Wild, half of Hyrule is in the sky now for some reason, and Zelda falls in a big old hole.

You could argue that it was optimistic to think Breath of the Wild 2 might still be coming on its original schedule of “some time in 2022”, then.

And lo, it has come to pass – in a typically forthright and apologetic video from The Legend of Zelda series producer, Eiji Aonuma – that the Breath of the Wild sequel has been delayed.

So that’s that, then. Breath of the Wild 2 (actual title TBC) has been delayed to Spring 2023 which, as ever, is totally fine. Take as long as you need, don’t crunch your developers, and make a great game in the end.

What was that old Miyamoto quote, again?
