Atlus, developer of the acclaimed Persona series, may well be working on a new project for the PS4.
As pointed out by Gematsu, a job advert was posted online for “2D Concept Design / Key Animation Talents! PS4 High-End Action Game.” It was posted there by “long-standing consumer game maker famous for its unique goddess (megami) and demon RPGs.”
It isn’t an absolute certainty, but the location for the job listing was Setagaya, which is where Atlus’ office is based in Tokyo, Japan. The ad was removed pretty sharpish once the story started to gain traction – along with another ad for a UI designer.
The other big game that we know Atlus is working on is Catherine: Full Body, and aside from that fact that you could hardly describe that game as an ‘action game’, the new project is mentioned as being “a newly under-development PlayStation 4 project.”
Either way, it’s interesting to see where Atlus ends up going; given that the company has specialised in RPGs, it will be intriguing to see how it takes to action games.
Japan has seen a massive rise in the last year with big western releases like Breath of the Wild, Yakuza 0, Nier: Automata, and Persona 5 all garnering considerable praise.
