Dark Light

Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture by UK-based The Chinese Room leads the nominations for the British Academy Game Awards 2016, with a staggering 10 potential gongs, including performance nominations for both Merle Dandridge and Oliver Dimsdale, and of course, in the music category for Jessica Curry’s amazing score. In second place with 8 nominations is The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt by CD Projekt Red, with indie upstart Her Story by Sam Barlow in third on 7.

Here’s the full list of multi-nominees:

  • Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture – 10
  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – 8
  • Her Story – 7
  • Ori and the Blind Forest – 5
  • Batman: Arkham Knight – 5
  • Life is Strange – 5
  • Rocket League – 5
  • Until Dawn – 4
  • Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain – 4
  • Assassin’s Creed Syndicate – 3
  • Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime – 3
  • Splatoon – 3
  • Fallout 4 – 2
  • Prison Architect – 2
  • Destiny: The Taken King – 2

It’s interesting to see a large number of indie or off-beat games doing well for nominations at this year’s BAFTAs, with the likes of Fallout 4, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate and Destiny: The Taken King far lower down the list. It’s also worth pointing out that Bloodborne, the PS4-exclusive smash hit of early 2015 only comes away with a single nomination, as does Xbox exclusive Halo V: Guardians, while its Microsoft-exclusive stable-mate Rise of the Tomb Raider failed to garner any nominations at all.

Here’s the full list of the runners and riders at the British Academy Game Awards 2016, which will be held on April 7; good luck to everyone involved!
