Dark Light

Below, the roguelike dungeon crawler from Capybara Games, has been confirmed for release on PC and Xbox One next week.

The game will hit Steam and the Xbox One Digital Games Store on December 14, some five years after the game was first announced at Microsoft’s E3 2013 press conference. Below has received multiple delays throughout its development, with work was officially paused in 2016.

In an interview with Gamesindustry.biz, studio co-founder, Nathan Vella, says:

“I’m not at all afraid of how this game is going to perform. I have no idea how it’s going to perform, that’s why I can’t really be afraid of it. I think we have something that some people are going to love and some people are not going to like, and I think that’s a strength.”

Much of Below is still a mystery, just as it was when we previewed it earlier this year. In blog post confirming the release date, Capy says this of the game:

“Test your adventurer mettle against The Isle’s procedural subterranean labyrinths. Explore a large, interconnected underworld crawling with cunning creatures, deadly traps, and something… else. Survive the perils of The Depths and unearth what lies BELOW…”

It looks like an experience suited to the dark winter months ahead, that’s for sure. Here’s the new Below release trailer.

Below is now available to Wishlist on Steam.
