Dark Light

2K Games have been slowly drip-feeding information about Sid Meier’s Civilization VI. Some of it has been quite interesting, but mostly it’s <famous historical figure> is going to leading <nation state> in Civilization VI.

Yawn.

But today’s announcement? That’s gotten our attention. In Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, France is going to be led by an Italian. Yep, you read that correctly: in Civilization VI, France is ruled by an Italian.

Specifically it’s Italian noblewoman Catherine de’ Medici, who was married to King Henry II of France and served as Queen from 1547 until her husband’s death in 1559. She also went on to bear three sons who would each become King of France during her lifetime, so in terms of a ruling dynasty it’s a pretty good claim, but it still seems like an odd choice.
