Dark Light

2K Games lifts the fog of war from the Civilization VI system requirements, and they’re not too bad.

Strategy games are not known for their exhausting system requirements, but anybody who’s played an older Civilization game on an under-powered PC – trying to take on the stupendously busy World War II scenario in Civilization II, for example – will know that they can still be incredibly frustrating.

When Civilization VI launches in just under a month’s time, these are the system specs you’ll need to run it.

Minimum Civilization VI system requirements:

  • OS: Windows 7 64bit / 8.1 64bit / 10 64bit
  • PROCESSOR: Intel Core i3 2.5 Ghz or AMD Phenom II 2.6 Ghz or greater
  • MEMORY: 4 GB RAM
  • HARD DRIVE: 12 GB or more
  • VIDEO CARD: 1 GB DirectX 11 Video Card (AMD 5570 or nVidia 450)

<h3″>Recommended Civilization VI system requirements:

  • OS: Windows 7 64bit / 8.1 64bit / 10 64bit
  • PROCESSOR: Fourth generation Intel Core i5 2.5 Ghz or AMD FX8350 4.0 Ghz or greater
  • MEMORY: 8 GB RAM
  • HARD DRIVE: 12 GB or more
  • VIDEO CARD: 2 GB DirectX 11 Video Card (AMD 7970 or nVidia 770 or greater)

It’s not a very exciting announcement, mind you. The Mafia III system requirements announcement at least made a nice poster out of it, but the Civilization VI system requirements are just overlaid on an image; one we’ve seen a thousand times already since the initial reveal.

Yawn.

Perhaps in future they should get the system requirements revealed by the new voice of the tech tree, Sean Bean? In a game that largely centres on revealing technology in this way, it would certainly make for a more interesting and appropriate announcement.

Civilization VI launches on October 21, 2016. You can pre-order it now from Amazon.
