De Mambo to bring four-player mayhem to the Nintendo Switch.

De Mambo, the local multiplayer action game from indie studio The Dangerous Kitchen, has been confirmed for release on the Nintendo Switch. The Smash Bros-inspired game features a single-screen battle mode that supports up to four players, plus recently announced campaign and survival modes.

The Nintendo Switch build of the game will be playable in public for the first time at the upcoming EGX Rezzed games expo, taking place at London’s Tobacco Dock from March 30 – April 1, 2017.

Lucy Dove, producer and designer for The Dangerous Kitchen, said:

“Nintendo have always been a haven for local multiplayer, and the Nintendo Switch seems like a natural extension of this. It gives us the opportunity to bring De Mambo to an audience of players hungry for local multiplayer experiences.”

Shaun Roopra, the studios’s artist and writer, added:

“Nintendo Switch is perfect for De Mambo. It’s almost like Nintendo saw De Mambo and decided to make a console to best showcase it.”

We spoke to The Dangerous Kitchen in September 2015 – during the early stages of De Mambo‘s creation – to find out more about developing a video game from the lobby of a well-known hotel chain.

The game – which was part-funded by a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2015 – will also be coming to Steam, PlayStation 4 and PS Vita after its initial Switch release.

Tickets for EGX Rezzed are available now from the event’s official website.
