Bungie and Loot Crate partner to release physical boxes of Destiny 2 merch in 2018.

The timing is just dandy on this one. LA-based producer of gaming merchandise, Loot Crate, has announced a new deal with Destiny 2 developer Bungie to produce a mail order crate based on the popular – and increasingly controversial – online shooter.

The loot crate will include a figure, some apparel, and various other collectibles inspired by the game and it’s upcoming expansions.

Chris Davis, CEO of Loot Crate, said:

“The Destiny 2 Limited Edition Crate is a huge win for the fans of the Destiny franchise as it gives the developers even more opportunities to share the rich lore that anchors the universe behind one of 2017’s biggest game launches. We’ve worked with our friends at Bungie to put Destiny collectibles in Loot Crates and Loot Gaming crates and every time we do, fans ask for more – finally we can deliver this one-of-a-kind fan experience.”

It will be standard video game tat, probably. Which would be fine, were it not for the amusing fact that Bungie is currently in disaster recovery mode following a significant fan backlash against Destiny 2’s in-game economy, endgame content, and XP progression towards the loot box-style Bright Engram.

The Destiny 2 Limited Edition Crate is now up for pre-order priced at $49.99 and will ship in early 2018. Customers who order before release will get an additional Cayde-6 pin. You lucky things, you.
