Dragon Quest Builders, the mutant offspring of the venerable RPG series and Minecraft, now has a demo available.
Dragon Quest Builders will launch on PS4 and PS Vita on October 11, 2016. It promises to combine a mix of roleplaying, crafting and settlement building, in one of the most bizarre mash-ups since Glee was on television.
If you’re not sure what it’s all about – and we’re with you there, friend – then there’s a demo available now from the PlayStation store, for both the PS4 and PS Vita, allowing players to experience the first chapter from the game. In this opening chapter you’ll restore a town, explore an open-world island, and battle monsters. Given that it’s a Dragon Quest game of sorts, some of those monsters will be weird blue goo. We know that much, at least.
Other than that, the jury’s really out on Dragon Quest Builders. Will the mash-up work? Will it ever be more than a sum of its parts? Will it be terrible? We’ll have to wait and see; but the demo will at least give players something of a heads up on this decidedly weird prospect.
Intrigued? Confused? Really love the demo? Pre-order Dragon Quest Builders from Amazon.
