Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture composer Jessica Curry to speak at GDC

Dark Light

GDC talk by composer Jessica Curry will examine the music of Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture.

We didn’t run a game of the year round-up here at Thumbsticks but if we had you can guarantee that The Chinese Room’s Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture would have made an appearance in the upper echelons of the list.

Among the game’s many pleasures is the melancholic and haunting score by Jessica Curry. If you are attending GDC this year you’ll have the opportunity to hear the composer speak about its creation.

The Music of Rapture: Scoring For The End of The World will be part of GDC’s Audio track of talks, and in addition to detailing how she scored Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture, Curry will also examine the ways in which the music functions within the game.

Curry will also tackle more practical matters for composers, including how to work with designers, when to start composing, what software to use, and when you should start exploring the more emotional and thematic aspects of a score.

Sounds like a good one. And if you need convincing, just listen to this:
