A free to play action RPG called, Final Fantasy Awakening, has launched in Korea, and it’s been very successful so far.
Released on Android, the new adventure is set in the world of Final Fantasy Type-0 and it’s been a strong start indeed.
According to publisher FL Mobile (courtesy of DualShockers), Final Fantasy Awakening has had 800,000 pre-registrations before it had even launched. This has meant that new servers have been put in place to accommodate the high demand.
The mobile game will let players choose characters from the Typ-0 universe. It looks like an interesting prospect: the free to play model here is layered over with Final Fantasy RPG elements, and what looks like a healthy dose of hack-and-slash thrown in for good measure.
Back in 2016, the game was announced for iOS, Android, and PC in the west, but we’ve heard nothing since. Perhaps the success and surge of this launch may prod FL Mobile and developer Perfect World to get something over to our shores.
