Square-Enix RPG, I am Setsuna, will be available for Nintendo Switch on launch day.

Brave Setsuna goes up against The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on March, 3rd, but comes prepared with new features.

Tokyo RPG Factory’s debut game, I am Setsuna, tells the story of the maiden Setsuna as she attempts to save the people of her land from evils demons. The RPG was released on PlayStation consoles last year to positive response, drawing attention with its distinct aesthetics and traditional JRPG gameplay mechanics. In other wotrds, it was a bit like Chrono Trigger.

The game will now be a day one digital launch title on whatever the Switch’s – as yet unannounced – online store will be. The Switch version will have exclusive new features,  including a Temporal Battle Arena, where players can battle against other players’ parties. Hopefully, the game’s notoriously long loading times will also be eradicated.

Releasing on the same day as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild might appear crazy, but with the launch line-up for Nintendo’s new console looking slender, to say the least, it could be a move that pays off for Square-Enix. There’s nothing like owning a new console to make you buy a game you’d have previously overlooked. I’m looking at you, Knack.

I am Setsuna will be released on Nintendo Switch on March 3, 2017.
