Konami announces their Gamescom 2015 lineup; big surprise, it contains Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and PES 2016.
E3 2015 is all over. We could all sit around being sad about it, or we could move onto the next hype-filled gaming expo.
That’s right, it’s nearly time for Gamescom 2015.
Gamescom is one of Europe’s (and indeed the world’s) biggest gaming expos – Gamescom 2014 drew in 335,000 punters, versus EGX 2014’s meagre 75,000 – and this year isn’t expected to be any smaller. Hosted out of the Koelnmesse (that’s the Cologne Trade Fair) it traditionally serves as a chance for exhibitors to back up their major reveals from E3 with some meaty content and those all-import hands on playable builds.
Konami jumped out of the blocks today to announce two titles that will be on show and playable in Germany in a month’s time, and nobody is at all surprised to learn that those two titles are Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and PES 2016 (Pro Evolution Soccer).
Here’s what Konami’s General Manager of Digital Entertainment, Martin Schneider had to say:
METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN and PES 2016 will be available for the public to play for the first time at this year’s gamescom; and that´s the kind of line-up that packs a punch. KONAMI is going to present two stunning games for the current console generation at the most important consumer exhibition in the world, and further showcases KONAMI’s commitment to bringing AAA-titles to the consumer.
There were no mention of any sausages though, which suggests there might be a distinct lack of fun around these events following the departure of Kojima earlier this year.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be released on September 1 2015, and PES 2016 will follow soon after on September 15. Be among the first members of the public to get your hands on them by heading over to Konami’s booth is located in hall 7.1/B030. The booth for business partners and media can be found in hall 4.2/B011.
