Mark “Messhof” Essen’s fencing follow-up, Nidhogg 2, is confirmed for PlayStation 4.

The sequel to everyone’s favourite stabby stabby parry stabby combat game is getting a sequel, and it’s officially coming to PlayStation 4.

This time round the game includes a brand new art style – which is just as idiosyncratic as the first’s – plus new weapons including throwing knives, arrows and giant axes.

The development of Nidhogg 2 was announced in September and its teaser trailer shows off the game’s new animation and art style from Toby Dixon rather wonderfully.  The game is due for release in 2017, although a firm date has not yet been set.

Nidhogg 2 will feature single player challenge rounds and a tournament modes, along with local and online multiplayer. The soundtrack will come from Mux Mool, Dose One and Daedelus, to name a few.

If you’re attending Day of the Devs in San Francisco on Saturday 5th November you can play Nidhogg 2 at booth 30 and see the game on the main stage from 6pm.
