Here’s your round-up of this week’s Nintendo eShop releases for the 3DS and Wii U.
We got news last week that Playtonic’s Kickstarter-backed Yooka-Laylee was no longer coming to the Wii U, and may instead be released on the forthcoming Nintendo Switch. The ever-shifting console landscape means that this type of platform change is always a risk with crowd funded projects. Full credit, then, to WayForward, who this week bring the Kickstarter-funded Shantae: Half-Genie Hero to Nintendo’s ailing home console. Based on the studio’s previous work with the franchise we can expect a fun, inventive and colourful platforming adventure.
However, the release we’re most excited about is Jupiter’s seventh, yes seventh, 3DS Picross title. Picross e7 brings another collection of pictorial chin-strokers, including some new 20×15 sized mega puzzles. The game also has a new mechanic to help mark squares you are unsure about and an improved control scheme. The series is an under-appreciated highlight of the 3DS library and comes highly recommended.
Other releases include indie puzzler Back to Bed and hacking focused, Radiantflux: Hyperfractal.
