Dark Light

You can play the official game Big Bash 2016 Twenty20 cricket game for free. Like, really for free.

Big Ant Studios have been making a name for themselves with the increasingly popular Don Bradman Cricket series on PC, and with today’s new they might endear themselves even more to fans of the sport.

Big Bash 2016 is a completely free mobile Twenty20 cricket game that features no micro-transactions or advertising whatsoever. The game has been developed in partnership with Cricket Australia and is – as you might have guessed – the official tie-in for the 2016-17 KFC Big Bash League and Rebel Women’s Big Bash League season.

Players can take control of their favourite clubs – complete with official player names and jerseys – and play through a full season of matches. Big Ant has used the same motion capture technology deployed in the Don Bradman Cricket series to ensure that the movement of players is as authentic as possible. Because of its broad appeal the game has been designed to be simple to play, with an emphasis on timing skills for batting and directional touches to apply spin and swing when bowling.

Ross Symons, CEO of Big Ant Studios, said:

“We wanted to give players the most authentic and complete T20 cricket experience, which they can play along with as they cheer on their favourite clubs in real life. T20 cricket is such an exciting version of the sport, and we think it fits with mobile gaming platforms perfectly.”

Anthony Everard, who as Head of Big Bash League has the best job title ever, said:

“The BBL and WBBL have taken Australia by storm in recent years, with the fast paced action on the field and fun family atmosphere off the field making it a favourite of fans young and old around Australia. Now, with Big Bash 2016, our fans will be able to be a part of the cricket action using their own mobile device.”

Your move, FIFA.

Big Bash 2016 is available now on the Apple iOS and Android app stores.
