Capcom confirms updated version of Resident Evil Revelations will lurch onto PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this month, Nintendo Switch version to follow.

Capcom is once again digging deep into its back catalogue, and is bringing Resident Evil Revelations to current gen consoles. The game was an early highlight on the Nintendo 3DS, and was ported to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, and Wii U in 2013.

The new version adds a number of visual improvements including 1920×1080 resolution, an improved frame rate, increased environmental details, and refined creature animations. We’re unsure on how many of these additions will be included in the Nintendo Switch version, but we do hope to see some improvements over the Wii U port.

Additionally, four controller schemes based on control types from across the Resident Evil series will be included to accommodate different play styles. We don’t expect any will come close to replicating the feeling of using the 3DS Circle Pad Pro, however.

The game’s downloadable content will also be included, and available to unlock as in-game rewards.

Resident Evil Revelations will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on 29th August. The Nintendo Switch release of the game – and its follow up Resident Evil Revelations 2 – will come later in 2017.
