Square Enix are bringing a remake of the classic RPG, Secret of Mana, to PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita and Steam.

The adventures of Randi, Primm and Popoi will be remastered with new high-definition 3D visuals, and enhanced gameplay. The remake is set for release on 15th February, 2018 in Europe and North America.

Secret of Mana was released in 1993 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, and has since become regarded as one of the greatest RPGs of all time. If you missed the game first time round, you’ll have another chance to play the original next month, assuming you can get your hands on the hard-to-find Classic SNES Mini.

In addition to the new 3D graphics – which have a pleasingly retro feel to them – the game will include a newly arranged version of Hiroki Kikuta’s score, and all-new voiced characters. Based on the trailer, we’re not quite as pleased with those. Square Enix also promise a number of enhancements to the game’s RPG mechanics.

Players who preorder Secret of Mana via the PlayStation Store pre-order will receive a Moogle Suit character costume for Randi, Primm and Popoi, a Tiger Two-Piece for Primm, and a Tiger Suit for Randi and Popoi. PC players who pre-purchase the Day 1 Edition will get the three character costumes, and an additional downloadable wallpaper.
