Square Enix’s new RPG Guardian Codex promises a new and futuristic twist to the genre.
Bold claims there, especially for an RPG of the hand-held variety but there might just be a chance that the marketing blurb is on to something in this case.
Guardian Codex is a free-to-play RPG for iOS and Android from the team behind the popular – and highly recommended – card battle games, Guardian Cross and Deadman’s Cross. Between them the two titles have amassed a not insignificant eight million combined downloads worldwide.
Guardian Codex features the familiar Guardians of the series but takes place in a new – and allegedly exciting – world with a deep story, console-quality 3D graphics, and an engaging multiplayer battle system also among the promises.
Set in the year 2030, Guardian Codex sees the world split between the Empire and Resistance forces. Players will venture into the virtual world of the Codex with a mission to find the legendary Guardians and restore peace to the world. All in a day’s work for any self-respecting RPG player.
