Eric Barone’s breakout farming RPG Stardew Valley is coming to Xbox One on 14th December 2016.
Stardew Valley is one of the breakout hits of 2016. Released in February with little fanfare it went on to sell 400,000 copies within a fortnight and over a million by April. A thriving mod community has grown around the game and it has also become one of Twitch’s most viewed titles. Not bad for a game about watering plants and raising livestock.
Microsoft have announced that the game will come to Xbox One on Wednesday 14th December. If you have money burning a hole in you pocket you can preorder the game from tomorrow.

“I spent over four years developing Stardew Valley, inspired by games that I loved as a child such as Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing. Although the idea of a “farming RPG” might have seemed odd at first, the games were very addictive and had a heartwarming charm that stuck with me. With Stardew Valley, my goal was to recreate that special feeling and bring it to modern platforms.”
There’s no single secret to Stardew Valley’s success but it must in part be due to wide range of opportunities it offers for pleasure, be it farming, fishing, raising animals, fighting monsters, or interacting with townsfolk. It’s a game full to the brim with charm, warmth, wit and character. And if you need proof, just watch the new trailer.
