Amnesia: The Dark Descent and Crashlands are free until next Thursday on the Epic Games Store. In the past decade, Frictional Games has put out one game every five years. The result? Two modern horror classics: 2010’s Amnesia: The Dark Descent and 2015’s Soma. If you haven’t yet experienced the terrors of A:TD, you’re in luck. It’s free right now, in anticipation of the release of Amnesia: Rebirth later this year. Though Frictional published The Chinese Room’s Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, Rebirth will be the first Frictional-developed game in the Amnesia series since 2010. If horror isn’t your thing, however, Epic is also offering the colourful ARPG Crashlands. This game includes crafting. Perhaps, it should have been called Craftlands!* *I have not played this game and have skimmed its Epic store page, so this was the best joke I could come up with. My apologies. (You’re forgiven. Ed.) If you don’t already have an Epic account, you’ll need to create one to claim your games here. To do that, you’ll need an email address, password and a credit card on file. Now that Amnesia: The Dark Descent and Crashlands are free, Epic has unveiled its next pair of freebies. Next Thursday, Death Coming and one other as yet unannounced game will be up for grabs.
