Looks like your trip to Gotham City can wait. Gotham Knights, the highly anticipated superhero beat-em-up has been delayed. Citing a need for "more time to deliver the best experience", Warner Bros. Montreal announced that the game will launch sometime in 2022. Initially revealed in August 2020, Gotham Knights is an online experience, where players will fight solo or in two-player co-op through a corrupted Gotham city. After the death of Caped Crusader, Red Hood, Batgirl, Robin, and Night Wing must take to the streets to combat some of Batman's greatest foes. Set within the same DC Universe, fans of the Arkham series will find the combo-building combat familiar. However, Gotham Knights will offer a more expansive experience in which players will build their own heroes through an extensive character progression system. WB Montreal, the team behind the overlooked Batman: Arkham Origins, has promised that each of the four characters will feel distinct, with their own collections of skills and gadgets. https://twitter.com/GothamKnights/status/1372940963270643712?s20 While the delay will come as a disappointing blow to many, it is unsurprising due to the slowed development process brought on by many teams working from home. With the premature release of Cyberpunk 2077 proving to be a cautionary tale for many studios, the delay to Gotham Knights should ensure players receive a polished and fully realised version of the game. 2022 is shaping up to be a great year for DC fans, with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League also arriving. Until then, fans will have to wait for their next virtual trip to Gotham, with info and gameplay expected to be showcased in the months to come. Gotham Knights will arrive on PlayStation and Xbox consoles, as well as PC, sometime next year. Follow us on Flipboard, Facebook, Google News, YouTube, and Twitter for more video game news.
