The price of Xbox Live Gold subscriptions will rise in the UK from next month. Microsoft has announced that the price of an Xbox Live Gold membership in the UK will rise by 25% from May, 2019. An annual subscription will jump from £39.99 to £49.99, the same price as full year of PlayStation Plus. Microsoft attributes the price hike to 'changing market conditions', which likely means the currency fluctuations generated by uncertainly surrounding the UK's exit from the European Union. So, good times all round. Microsoft is communicating the change to existing subscribers via an email saying: "As of May 08, the 12-month subscription fee for Xbox Live Gold is increasing from £39.99 to £49.99 to address changing market conditions. All current subscribers will keep their current subscription fee for 90 days. You will be charged the new price effective August 7, 2019 unless you choose to cancel your subscription before the next scheduled payment." The only tier not to receive a price increase is the 6-month membership, which remains at £29.99.
