Ubisoft has opened registrations for the closed beta of open world racing game, The Crew 2.

We have to admit, we’re rather excited for The Crew 2. That said, we were pretty hyped for The Crew, too.

Nonetheless, the series appears to be heading in an appealing new direction, with a sequel that features the ability to take instant control of cars, bikes, boats, and planes.

The overall vibe feels more in keeping with Criterion’s work on Burnout Paradise and Need for Speed: Most Wanted than the lacklustre first game.

The Crew 2 is set for release on June 29, 2018, but if you want to get behind the wheel – or take to the water or skies – beforehand, you can now register for the chance to take part in the game’s closed beta.

The beta will run from May 31 to June 4, 2017 on Windows PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Beta participants can pre-load the game from May 29, 2018.

The closed beta will feature the first level of The Crew 2’s progression system, with races across the first four disciplines: Street Race, Rally Raid, Powerboat and Aerobatics. Players will also be able to use the Fast-Fav feature, and instantly switch their vehicle type depending on the terrain they encounter as they explore a beautiful open world recreation of the United States.

See, sounds fun, right?
