Terrible Toybox have confirmed that Thimbleweed Park, the new point & click adventure game from Rob Gilbert and Gary Winnick, will be released next month.
Thimbleweed Park will be released on March 30 for Windows, Mac, Xbox One, and Linux. The game will be available to purchase via the Xbox Games Store, GOG and Steam, with other online stores to follow.
Thimbleweed Park is a deliberate throwback to the popular 2D point & click adventures of the ‘90s such as Monkey Island. The game been in development for over two years and was partly funded by a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2014 which raised a tidy $626,000.
With multiple playable characters, a branching narrative, beautiful 2D graphics and a grisly but comedic storyline, the game is pitched as the adventure that, in another timeline, Gilbert would have made immediately after Maniac Mansion.
At launch it has also been confirmed that Thimbleweed Park will have English voice and subtitles plus localisations in German, French, Spanish, and Italian. Russian subtitles will be added to the game soon after launch as part of a free update.
Terrible Toybox also plan to bring Thimbleweed Park to iOS and Android later this year, and door remains open on other PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch versions.
