Frozen Synapse takes the fight to the city in ambitious sequel.
The first trailer for Frozen Synapse 2 shows an example of the game’s procedurally generated, city-sized maps. It’s promised that every building will contain new missions to complete.
Although Frozen Synapse 2 is evidently at an early stage of development you can see Mode 7’s ambition. The first game was a tightly designed, engaging tactical experience and if that can be retained despite the increase in scale, it will be one to look out for.
In addition to the larger canvas every in-game item will also be ‘on the map’. For example, if a faction is transporting goods back from a raid, players can set up an ambush to retrieve the bounty.
Changes at a more granular level are also promised with new unit classes, perks and multiplayer modes planned.
Frozen Synapse 2 will enter beta on PC in 2016.
