Will Ubisoft reveal Tom Clancy’s Assassin’s_Dogs at their E3 press conference? There’s only one way to find out.
We’ll be reporting on each announcement as it happens.
Ubisoft E3 2016 press conference report
14:43 – Here’s some new IP, Steep.
[youtube url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t32yR-SNW6s” autoplay=”no”]More open-world, socially connected, shenanigans from Ubisoft. Impressive scope and ambition, as always, but like a lot of the trailers and demos today, it does feel a little unexciting.
We’ll feed back some hands-on impressions later this week. Here’s the gameplay demo.
[youtube url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Do5d4PAz4rA” autoplay=”no”]14:39 – We’re getting a Watch_Dogs film too
We’ll save the excitement for later.
And PlayStaton 4 gets all Watch_Dogs 2 DLC first. Here’s yet another trailer for the game.
[youtube url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trWWmQ7xf2U” autoplay=”no”] [divider style=”dashed” align=”center” color=”gray” opacity=”1.00″ width=”” pull=”” padding_top=”10px” padding_bottom=”10px”]14:27 – Watch_Dogs 2.
Dedsec interrupts the broadcast. It’s Mr Robot Jnr. Oh, we mean Watch_Dogs 2.
The representation of San Francisco looks startling.
Everything can be hacked, apparently. Didn’t they promise that for the first game too?
The hacker-chic vibe feels overcooked but the game’s ambition is impressive and the overall tone is much less self-important. The use of gadgets and robots is cool too.
It’s winning me over.
[youtube url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=243NzPs0vG4″ autoplay=”no”] [divider style=”dashed” align=”center” color=”gray” opacity=”1.00″ width=”” pull=”” padding_top=”10px” padding_bottom=”10px”]14:18 – Assassin’s Creed movie news.
Movie legend Frank Marshall basically tries to convince us that they won’t fuck it up.
[divider style=”dashed” align=”center” color=”gray” opacity=”1.00″ width=”” pull=”” padding_top=”10px” padding_bottom=”10px”]14:16 – Erm.
Oh, it’s the Trials/Blood Dragon cross-over, Trials of the Blood Dragon.
Trials gets an OTT ‘80s makeover that features a lot of hot pink. And it’s out now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
Tyler says the conference still has 30 minutes to go. Oh, boy.
[divider style=”dashed” align=”center” color=”gray” opacity=”1.00″ width=”” pull=”” padding_top=”10px” padding_bottom=”10px”]14:12 – Grow Up.
Nice change of tone with the sequel to last year’s Grow Home.
[youtube url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEBtCHk8_YA” autoplay=”no”] [divider style=”dashed” align=”center” color=”gray” opacity=”1.00″ width=”” pull=”” padding_top=”10px” padding_bottom=”10px”]14:00 – Men with axes. It’s For Honor.
Based on the trailer the game has come on a long way from last year’s reveal.
[youtube url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etZaAW_R7M8″ autoplay=”no”]And here’s the gameplay demo of the Viking campaign mission. Nice weighty combat, although the opponents don’t really seem to be trying.
Trigger Warning: If you have been personally affected by having a loved one take an axe to the skull, watch with caution.
[youtube url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YuuJZ2m2x0k” autoplay=”no”]Coming on 14th February 2017. Romantic.
[divider style=”dashed” align=”center” color=”gray” opacity=”1.00″ width=”” pull=”” padding_top=”10px” padding_bottom=”10px”]13:55 – Euro update.
While Levar Burton gives an acting lesson, we can confirm that Italy beat Belgium 2-0. Well, that’s a surprise.
[divider style=”dashed” align=”center” color=”gray” opacity=”1.00″ width=”” pull=”” padding_top=”10px” padding_bottom=”10px”]13:49 – A David Votypka appears.
He’s from Ubisoft Red Storm and is here to talk about the new Star Trek VR game.
It’s Unaffordable Space Adventures. Lots of operating of control panels, gameplay is very much team-work focussed. But do you need VR to do this?
Levar Burton, Jeri Ryan and Karl Urban are having kittens though.
It’s called Star Trek Bridge Crew. (We’re pretending we didn’t see the leaks.)
[youtube url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=romB8e5nMp8″ autoplay=”no”] [divider style=”dashed” align=”center” color=”gray” opacity=”1.00″ width=”” pull=”” padding_top=”10px” padding_bottom=”10px”]13:44 – Eagle Flight for Oculus.
Palmer Luckey is the lucky punter who gets to play Eagle Flight on stage. He must have connections.
Time for some PvP action over the skies of Paris. The mode is called Capture the Prey.
It reminds me of that old Star Fox 64 multiplayer mode where no one knew what was going on.
Looks kinda fun, but that incessant bird squawking has to go.
More proof that VR games never demo well unless you are playing it yourself.
[youtube url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTAMsCKgNR0″ autoplay=”no”] [divider style=”dashed” align=”center” color=”gray” opacity=”1.00″ width=”” pull=”” padding_top=”10px” padding_bottom=”10px”]13:36 – The Division update.
The game will be supported with updates for some time to come. And to celebrate Ubisoft’s 30th birthday some free outfits based on Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, and Splinter Cell are coming with the release of the Underground DLC.
Another new add-on is revealed: Survival. Still set in New York, in a snow storm.
[youtube url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=De-x3xxG1bU” autoplay=”no”] [divider style=”dashed” align=”center” color=”gray” opacity=”1.00″ width=”” pull=”” padding_top=”10px” padding_bottom=”10px”]13:33 – South Park pre-order bonus.
Pre-order South Park: The Fractured But Hole and get Stick of Truth for free on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 right now.
Released on 6th December. Here’s the Marvel-baiting trailer.
[youtube url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fiayfb1rrs0″ autoplay=”no”] [divider style=”dashed” align=”center” color=”gray” opacity=”1.00″ width=”” pull=”” padding_top=”10px” padding_bottom=”10px”]13:30 – It’s a bit boring.
Meanwhile, Italy are leading Belgium 1-0 at the Euros. 15 minutes to go.
Meanmeanwhile, the interminable South Park chat continues.
[divider style=”dashed” align=”center” color=”gray” opacity=”1.00″ width=”” pull=”” padding_top=”10px” padding_bottom=”10px”]13:23 – South Park.
Trey Parker and Matt Stone pop by for an awkward chat.
New game picks up where Stick of Truth left off.
[divider style=”dashed” align=”center” color=”gray” opacity=”1.00″ width=”” pull=”” padding_top=”10px” padding_bottom=”10px”]13:07 – Ghost Recon Wildlands
Scene setting trailer. Drones and drugs in the desert and jungle.
Far Cry meets Ghost Recon? Certainly looks like it.
[youtube url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ys7VVZvTjs” autoplay=”no”]Bolivia is a taken over by drug cartels. Who you gonna call? Dominic Butler from Ubisoft, that’s who!
Dominic explains that the game is open world, can be played solo or co-up.
Time for a gameplay demo. We see a player shoot people in a house so he can log onto a laptop. That done, to the skies in a chopper.
It’s pretty up here.
Feels a lot like Far Cry 2 as a camp is scoped out from distance. The slow-paced gameplay is refreshing. Much more considered than the likes of Rainbow Six Siege.
And then things go south. To the ve-hi-cles.
It’s… impressive, without being particularly exciting. Some nice pony tail animations though.
Coming on 7th March, 2017.
[youtube url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqoX0WSE-SE” autoplay=”no”] [divider style=”dashed” align=”center” color=”gray” opacity=”1.00″ width=”” pull=”” padding_top=”10px” padding_bottom=”10px”]13:01 – Dancing! Colour! Happiness!
This isn’t Watch_Dogs 2! It’s Just Dance.
Here’s Aisha Tyler. Always the professional as she stands amid the Just Dance 2017 carnival.
Will be coming to PC, console and Nintendo NX, next year. That’s at least two games for the NX then.
[divider style=”dashed” align=”center” color=”gray” opacity=”1.00″ width=”” pull=”” padding_top=”10px” padding_bottom=”10px”]13:00 – Time to start the show.
Lights down.
