Dontnod’s Vampyr stakes claim to the number one spot in the UK video games chart.

Congratulations to publisher Focus Home Interactive, who have scored their first No.1 in the GFK Top 40 Software Chart with Dontnod Entertainment’s dark tale of blood lust, Vampyr.

Although last week was a quiet one for major new releases, Vampyr’s performance is still worth noting. The game didn’t have the benefit of a AAA marketing campaign, and also received a fairly mixed critical response. As a result, last week’s No.1, FIFA 18, falls one place to No.2

The other new entries in the Top 40 are Summerset, the latest expansion for Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls Online, and two new racing games – Onrush and MotoGP 19 – which debut at No.34 and No.40, respectively.

Elsewhere, Quantic Dream’s Detroit: Become Human remains in the top five, falling two places to No.4.

Grand Theft Auto V also returns to the Top 10, moving from thirteenth to No.9. But the biggest climb is for PlayStation VR Worlds, which leaps 25 places to No.14, helped, no doubt, by Sony’s recent hardware promotion.
