Electronic Arts might not be showing up the main event, but their press conference fires the starting pistol on this year’s E3.

We’ll be reporting on each announcement as it happens.

14:05 – Show’s over

And that’s that. Erm, a little underwhelming? Maybe E3 won’t miss EA after all.

14:01 – Battlefield 1

We think he’s used the word ‘destruction’ about 1400 times in that presentation. We get it. The environment is destructible.

There’s also vehicles, including the incredibly exciting and lightning-fast Zeppelin, and the clearly-only-goes-to-one-place train.

13:56 – Now we’re onto Battlefield 1

So, that was a trailer for Battlefield 1 – can’t help but feel like it’s been developed as the precise antithesis to Call of Duty’s Modern Tosh.

Didn’t mean to laugh at the bit where a pigeon got in the tank, sorry. It’s very serious stuff.

13:50 – Yay, Star Wars

New Star Wars: Battlefront confirmed for next year. Visceral and Respawn working on other Star Wars games but details are in a galaxy  far, far away.

A behind the scenes video with DICE, Visceral, Motive et al about the work EA’s doing with Disney and Lucasfilm in the extended Star Wars Universe. And more people in mo-cap suits.

13:47 – Fe introduced

The first EA original is Fe, has touches of Journey, Limbo, and Ori and the Blind Forest about it.

13:44 – EA originals

Following the success of Yarny with Coldwood studious, EA announces EA Originals. It’s about three things:

  • Taking first time experiences and bringing them to the world.
  • Supporting small developers and helping them make the most of their games.
  • Funding and offering a level of security.

13:33 – FIFA 17

Some interesting spoken word poetry about FIFA 17 going on.

Single player mode is called The Journey and includes real Premier League managers Klopp, Wenger and Jose Mourinho – who walks on stage like a guest on Noel’s House Party.

Some nice cock-er-ney accents in there, guv’nor.

13:27 – Mass Effect Andromeda to use Frostbite engine

Mass Effect Andromeda will be completely powered by Frostbite.
Joins FIFA 16 as EA effectively homogenises their key franchises on their AAA game engine.

13:26 – At last, Mass Effect Andromeda

Here’s what we wanted. Mass Effect Andromeda will see players leaving the Milky Way, to save the human race. Effectively sets the player as the alien, which makes for an interesting change of pace.

Behind the scenes trailer shows some beautiful alien worlds, and people in mo-cap suits.

13:25 – Meanwhile…

It’s still Germany 1-0 Ukraine in the Euros. Just in case you are missing it.

13:21 – EA announces 3 new types of event: Challenger, Premier and EA Majors

Essentially they’re trying to introduce a tiering system to online play,  much like professional sports leagues have had for years. Roughly analogous to non-league, domestic league, and international competition.

13:13 – Titanfall 2.

Coming to PS4 as well as Xbox One. Well, it’s not Peggle 3 but it does look like a huge leap over the first game.

EA CEO Andrew Wilson kicks things off. Inviting us in to play. Take that, E3. It’s all goes a bit Eurovision as London joins the party. Hello, Peter Moore liiiive from Hammersmith.
