Tim Wynn returns to provide score for XCOM 2.

Award-winning composer Tim Wynn is returning to provide the musical backdrop to alien occupation in the forthcoming XCOM 2.

The sequel to 2012’s XCOM: Enemy Unknown, from developers Firaxis Games, picks up in the near future when humanity has lost the war against alien invaders and is subjected to live in a world a little like ’80s TV show, V. Ghastly stuff.

The game has suffered the odd delay but based on our peek at last year’s E3 it looks like another compelling entry for the venerable franchise.

Having also contributed to the soundtrack for XCOM: Enemy Unknown Wynn’s new score will use a combination of synth ambience and orchestral themes to reflect humanity’s plight and fight.

The soundtrack will be released via iTunes and also come bundled with the XCOM 2 Digital Deluxe Edition.

Both game and soundtrack will be available worldwide for PC, Mac and Linux on February 5, 2016.
