Gotham Knights and Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope are among this week’s new video game releases for the PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
WB Games Montréal continue Rocksteady’s Batman legacy with Gotham Knights, a new open-world action RPG for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. We’re not convinced it will be a worthy follow-up to the Dark Knight’s Arkham adventures, but the unique abilities of Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin, and Red Hood look like good fun. The new version of Gotham also looks like a treat to explore.
A cast of famous characters also returns in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. Ubisoft’s 2017 predecessor Kingdom Battle was an early Nintendo Switch highlight, and all signs point to this being a polished and full-featured turn-based strategy adventure.
We’re also excited for Asobo Studio’s A Plague Tale: Requiem. The first game was an unexpected hit in 2019, and the sequel promises enhanced combat mechanics, larger locations, and rats. Lots and lots of rats.
Other new video game releases include The Jackbox Party Pack 9, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, New Tales from the Borderlands. Acclaimed JRPG Persona 5 Royal also comes to Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5
