It’s hard to know what to say about the Uncharted 4 gameplay demo we saw today.
It’s brilliant. You’ve watched it. You know it.
What impresses me most is its restraint. It’s an absolutely crazy scene but it balances spectacle and believability perfectly.
The humorous dialogue between Drake and Sully, plus the constant feeling that it could all go wrong at any moment, provides the sequence with a whole heap of thrills.
Compare it to the Rise of the Tomb Raider demo from the Xbox Media Briefing and you’ll see a good example of the balance tipped too far in the other direction.
