Prepared to sack and pillage? You’ll need to know the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla system requirements.

There may be plenty wrong with Ubisoft just now, but I do like how comprehensively it’s providing its PC system requirements at the moment.

Lots of developers/publishers tell you what the “minimum” or “recommended” system requirements are, but they don’t tell you what to expect “minimum” or “recommended” to mean, in real-world terms. Do I need to turn the resolution of my potato down to 640×480? Will the textures be like playing a PS1 game on a TV smeared with vaseline?

But what Ubisoft has been doing recently, first with Watch Dogs Legionupdated to include Nvidia’s RTX 3000-series cards – and now with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, is to pair these vague notions of “minimum” and “recommended” with target resolutions and frame rates.

What’s really interesting about the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla system requirements – compared to the Watch Dogs Legion ones, a game released around the same time that no doubt runs in the same engine – is that the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla system requirements make no mention of real-time ray tracing support via Nvidia’s Geforce RTX-series cards. They don’t even mention the shiny new RTX 3000-series graphics cards at all.

Also notable is that the 4K requirements for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla feature the same install size as the other versions. Referring back to Watch Dogs Legion again, there’s an additional 20GB “HD Texture Pack” to hit those 4K resolutions. (It’s also unusual for someone to refer to 1440p as “2K” resolution, but that’s what Ubisoft called it, so we left it in.)

Otherwise, the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla system requirements are pretty much where you’d expect them to be. It’s just nice to know that up-front, so thanks again for including those target resolutions and framerates, Ubisoft.
