Dark Light

It’s time to colonise a brave new world, but what are the Aven Colony system requirements?

Aven Colony, from UK publisher Team 17, is a promising civilisation-building 4X strategy game, set on a hostile, alien world. It even has the same initials as another famous civilisation-building 4X strategy game, set on a hostile, alien world.

Aven Colony brings a few new ideas to the table with it, though, including a day/night/seasonal cycle, which dramatically changes the gameplay as the seasons change. Crops will be bountiful and solar panels generate energy during summer, but during winter, it’s going to be much more challenging. A realistic mechanic of feast and famine is something exciting and different for the 4X genre, and going off-world isn’t just a gimmick; it’s a whole new challenge in itself.

But what will you need to survive Aven Colony, aside from some large food stores and very warm clothes?
