Cassette Beasts and Protodroid DeLTA headline this week’s lineup of new video game releases for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox.
Bytten Studio’s Cassette Beasts debuted to acclaim on PC last month and os released for Nintendo Switch and Xbox (including Game Pass) this week. The game is a delight for the senses, with wonderful music and crisp retro-inspired visuals. The influence of Pokemon is evident, but the story, characters, and social commentary show how the monster catching genre can still break new ground.
In fact, it’s a good week for PC hits to get welcome console ports. The Case of the Golden Idol can be uncovered on Switch, and Fights in Tight Spaces lands on Switch and PlayStation.
Elsewhere, Protodroid DeLTA is a new action-platformer from solo developer Adam Kareem that aims to bring the fast and fluid gameplay of SNES classic Megaman X into 3D. The game’s vibrant world looks the part, and if the controls are up to scratch, we can see it being a breakout hit.
This week’s other new video game releases include Convergence: A League of Legends Story, Star Trek: Resurgence, and Planet of Lana.
