The 2017 Develop Awards recognise the achievements of Guerrilla Games and Rocksteady Studios.
This week, the seaside town of Brighton was home to Develop:Brighton, the UK’s leading game development conference. Following three days of learning, networking and – based on what we witnessed – some serious socialising, the achievements of studios large and small were recognised at Wednesday’s Develop Awards.
Amsterdam-based Guerrilla Games took home the prestigious Studio of the Year award for their work on the wonderful Horizon: Zero Dawn, as well as the gong for Animation. Rocksteady Studios also won two awards, with Batman Arkham VR recognised for its achievements in Visual Design and Music Design.
Ghost Town Games picked up the Best New Games IP award for Overcooked, and Yooka-Laylee creators Playtonic Games received the award for best New Studio.
Curve Digital – who have published a string of indie hits, including Thomas Was Alone, The Swindle, OlliOlli and Hue – received the Publishing Hero award.
Also in attendance were Brenda and John Romero, who – following their earlier key notes – were presented as this year’s Development Legends.
