Apex Legends: Emergence is the big-ticket item on the list of new Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One releases this week. Wait, that can’t be right?
After last week’s bumper Xbox Series X|S releases – which saw Microsoft Flight Simulator make its console debut – it’s a rather muted week on the Xbox platform this week. When an expansion for a two-and-a-half-year-old, free-to-play battle royale is the “big” game, then you know it’s a bit weak.
But this isn’t just any old ApeLegs patch. Apex Legends: Emergence, which also marks the game’s 10th season, includes a new legend, Seer, a new LMG, and allows players to go back to a ruined version of the World’s Edge map. It’s still just an update, but at least it feels like big news.
Thankfully, the Xbox releases are more stocked with indie games. Solos is an action puzzler that feels like it mashes up twin-stick-shooting with a hint of Terry Cavanagh and Progress. Castle of Pixel Skulls: DX and Enter Digition: Heart of Corruption, meanwhile, are challenging, pixel-art platformers.
No Thing, a “minimalistic surreal action game set in the totalitarian regime of the future” where you play as a clerk delivering a message to the world’s unpleasant leader, also looks like an interesting curio.
Here’s the full lineup of new Xbox releases. We’ll update this page with any late additions throughout next week.
