Biomutant, Mutazione, and An Airport for Aliens Currently Run by Dogs headline next week’s lineup of new Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S releases.
An Airport for Aliens Currently Run by Dogs is that rare beast: A game with a weird name that is simultaneously exactly what you expect, and also far, far stranger. Developed by Strange Scaffold – who you might know better as fantastic writer Xalavier Nelson Jr – it’s an open-world exploration affair, with a vaguely vapourwave aesthetic and alien languages to decipher. Think Paradise Killer meets Heaven’s Vault, but all the characters are stock photos of dogs. It’s as weird, funny, charming, and weird as it sounds.
If you hoped it would get less weird, you’re probably out of luck? Mutazione comes to the Xbox family of consoles for the first time and it’s another cracking exploration adventure, which sees you tending to gardens and relationships with the game’s curious cast of mutated characters.
Speaking of mutated characters, the long-anticipated Biomutant rounds off the big Xbox Series X|S releases this week. The post-apocalyptic kung fu fable features a unique take on melee combat, allowing you to change the way your character looks and plays by adopting specific new mutations, in addition to learning new martial arts skills from masters across its open world. (Like Shenmue, then, but somehow less odd?)
One more big game? Sure, why not! You’ve been very good all week. Saints Row the Third Remastered also comes to Xbox Series X|S. Whether that’s in the interest of humanity is for future generations to decide.
