My Little Pony, Kao the Kangaroo, and Pac-Man headline this week’s new Xbox releases. Oh, and Sniper Elite 5.
It’s a big week for big characters on the Xbox platform.
First up, My Little Pony: A Maretime Bay Adventure. Yes, we know what you’re thinking, but My Little Pony has a massive fanbase, with the people you’d expect (pre-adolescent kids) and some people you might not (the Bronies) so expect this one to be popular.
Then there’s Kao the Kangaroo, a promising newcomer in the mascot platformer space. While other games have tried and missed the mark in this legacy-dominated space in recent years, Kao looks like he could just be the real deal.
And bringing up the rear is a little yellow fellow you might just have heard of: Pac-Man, in Pac-Man Museum+, a collection of 13 classic Pac-Man games. There’s little more we can say on that one. You know what you’re getting. (But in you’re interested in the history of the legend that is Pac-Man, you could do a lot worse than this lovely book.)
Other games of note – outside of the big characters – include Hardspace: Shipbreaker, in which you play a zero-gravity shipyard breaker, stripping down retired spacecraft for their precious parts. Spacelines from the Far Out is a co-op space adventure at the other end of the lifespan of a spacecraft, where you’re running intergalactic holidays. And while Injection π23 ‘Ars regia’ might have a terrible name, it’s an intriguing-looking, puzzle-stuffed survival horror.
Is there anything else? Oh, right, yes. Sniper Elite 5. There’s that, too.
