Cold Iron Studios has confirmed a release date for the upcoming third-person survival shooter, Aliens: Fireteam Elite.
The new trailer for the renamed Aliens: Fireteam Elite confirms the game will be released on August 24, 2021. It’s coming to PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, and Xbox One.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite is the latest in a long line of games spun off from the classic 20th Century Fox movie franchise. Rather than recreating the eerie atmosphere of the first film – as expertly achieved by Alien: Isolation – the game taps into the action-oriented spectacle of 1986’s Aliens. It’s also one of several upcoming several games in the resurgent co-op horde genre.
In a story set 23 years after the original film trilogy, players – with friends or AI teammates – join a squad of Colonial Marines tasked with responding to a distress call from the outer colonies. As you might expect, things don’t go to plan.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite includes more than 20 enemy types, including no less than 11 different Xenomorph variants, plus various Weyland-Yutani Synthetics. Players can choose from five distinct classes – Gunner, Demolisher, Technician, Doc and Recon – and equip themselves from an arsenal of over 30 weapons, each of which can be modded with unique abilities. There’s no hiding in cupboards here.

Much of the game’s success will depend on the creativity of the alien horde as players attempt to push back a relentless onslaught of attacks. If Cold Iron Studios can nail that, Aliens: Fireteam Elite could make a name for itself.
