Studio Wildcard has confirmed that ARK: Survival Evolved is coming to the Nintendo Switch later this year.

Studio Wildcard has announced that the popular open-world survival adventure, ARK: Survival Evolved, will get a Nintendo Switch release in Fall 2018. The news was revealed today during Epic Games’ “State of Unreal” keynote at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.

The Switch version is being developed in partnership with Abstraction Games, and from the port’s early footage, it appears to perform surprisingly well on Nintendo’s hit console.

The Nintendo Switch edition is feature and content complete, and includes the full range of prehistoric and fantasy monsters, the complete ARK island to explore, and the full suite of online features.

Studio Wildcard’s Jeremy Stieglitz said:

“The Switch’s handheld mode provides a fantastic new capability for survivors who want to fully immerse themselves in the vast worlds of ARK. With this new version, Switch players can go directly from hunting and taming while sitting on the couch, to forming online tribes and searching out new conquests when on the bus, waiting in line, or wherever they happen to be.”

ARK: Survival Evolved has been a huge success since entering Steam Early Access in June 2015, with over 13 million players willingly stranding themselves on the ARK island. The game has subsequently been released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Mac, and Linux.
