The latest gaming and esports insights update from Twitter shares some moderately interesting nuggets of information, including which game at E3 2021 generated the most conversation.

The update doesn’t provide much in the way of detailed analysis, but it serves as a temperature check on the games that made headlines at this year’s virtual expo.

It will probably come as no surprise to discover that the follow-up to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was the most talked-about game. Quite an achievement considering its brief trailer was only released during the event’s final day.

Elden Ring – which was actually shown during Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest event – is second, followed by Battlefield 2042. Surprisingly perhaps, there’s no sign of Bethesda’s upcoming Xbox exclusive Starfield in the top five.

Twitter has also listed the most tweeted about games globally in the first half of 2021. It’s a mix of evergreen franchises like Animal Crossing, Final Fantasy and Monster Hunter, and free-to-play hits with a mobile audience including Ensemble Stars!, Fortnite and Genshin Impact.
