Evil Genius 2: World Domination

Rebellion reveals more about the creation of Evil Genius 2: World Domination in a new developer commentary video.

One of the quiet stars of E3 2019 is Rebellion’s Evil Genius 2: World Domination. The game’s official reveal trailer promises of new levels of despicable no-goodery, and it received a warm welcome at this week’s PC Gaming Show.

The game is a full sequel to Elixir Studios’ 2004 original and lets players create their own evil lairs, recruit evil henchman, and embark on hundreds of diabolically evil schemes. All together now… Mwahahahahah.

The trailer is a real hoot, but players interested in the game should also check out the accompanying developer commentary video. The 13-minute long behind-the-scenes look features Evil Genius 2’s producer, Ash Tregay, and designers Richard Edwards and Ian Pestridge, discussing their dastardly plans for the lair-building sequel in fascinating detail.

Evil Genius 2: World Domination will be released on PC via Steam in 2020.

The Resident Evil 3 Collector’s Edition is available to pre-order

Capcom has unveiled the Resident Evil 3 remake Collector’s Edition for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Capcom has announced a Collector’s Edition for the upcoming remake of Resident Evil 3 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

You’ll never guess what’s included with the Resident Evil 3 Collector’s Edition. What’s that you say? An art book? A soundtrack? And a figurine? Well, you might be on to something.

Capcom has unveiled a physical version of the game for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 that includes all the goodies you’d expect in a limited edition release. The pack includes a copy of the game with exclusive lenticular cover art, a Jill Valentine figure, a printed art book, a Raccoon City map poster, and a copy of the soundtrack. The soundtrack is included digitally in the US and on two CDs in other regions.

Resident Evil 3 Collector’s Edition

Resident Evil 3 is a ground-up remake of the 1999 survival horror favourite, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. The game serves as a prequel and follow up, of sorts, to Resident Evil 2, which was itself remade and released to universal acclaim last year.

The game is the latest to be developed in Capcom’s RE Engine, which has already been put to spectacular use with Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil 2, and Devil May Cry 5. The game also includes Resident Evil Resistance, an asymmetrical 4 vs 1 online multiplayer game.

Resident Evil 3 will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on April 3, 2020. Pre-orders of the Standard and Collector’s Edition include an exclusive costume pack that features the original design for Jill Valentine and hairstyle for Carlos Oliveira. The game is available from the usual retailers, including Amazon, GameBestBuy. and the Capcom Store.

Metro Exodus - Sam’s Story DLC

Deep Silver and 4A Games have announced a February release date for Sam’s Story, the second major content expansion for Metro Exodus.

Metro Exodus – a game that, for all its flaws, we rather enjoyed – is getting a second story expansion on February 11, 2020.

Titled Sam’s Story, the DLC follow the adventures of Spartan Ranger who, following the nuclear war, yearns to return home to the US and search for his father. Cue a perilous journey through crumbling ruins, a tsunami wrecked harbour, and rolling meadows full of beautiful daisies. Well, maybe not the last one.

The non-linear sandbox survival level also adds new characters, weapons, and mutant variants to enjoy.

Metro Exodus - Sam’s Story DLC

Sam’s Story is released on February 11, 2020, on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Stadia. It’s included as part of the Metro Exodus Expansion Pass along with The Two Colonels DLC that was released last summer.

Journey to the Savage Planet and Kentucky Route Zero headline this week’s lineup of new Xbox One releases.

Cardboard Computer’s striking point-and-click adventure game, Kentucky Route Zero, comes to an end this week with the release of its fifth and final act. Seven years in the making, it’s rightly acclaimed as a stunning example of what video games can be. It’s pretty much essential.

Comical space adventures also beckon in Journey to the Savage Planet. The debut game from Typhoon Studios is a colourful exploratory adventure in the Douglas Adams vein. Google is evidently impressed and has acquired the studio – which was set up by Ubisoft and Electronic Arts alumni – to make exclusive games for Stadia.

Other new releases include licensed motorcycle racer Supercross 3, Milo’s Quest, and Coffee Talk, a game about helping people with problems from the comforting haze of a Seattle coffee shop.

Each new release can be purchased from the Xbox One digital games store and Microsoft online store. Here’s the confirmed lineup.

Sci-fi puzzler The Turing Test is coming to Nintendo Switch

Square Enix has announced that science-fiction puzzle adventure The Turing Test is coming to Nintendo Switch next month.

The Turning Test - Nintendo Switch
Bulkhead Interactive

Square Enix has announced that science-fiction puzzle adventure The Turing Test is coming to Nintendo Switch next month.

We start the week with news of another game getting ported to Nintendo Switch. This time it’s Bulkhead Interactive’s first-person puzzle game, The Turning Test.

Assuming the role of Ava Turing, an engineer from the International Space Agency, players must uncover the mystery of a missing crew stationed on Jupiter’s moon, Europa.

The game’s description is a checklist of familiar sci-fi tropes: a remote space base, an untrustworthy AI, dangerous secrets, and so on. However, The Turing Test rises above the cliches with cunning puzzle design and a well-told story that neatly ties into Alan Turing’s famous behavioural intelligence test.

The Turing Test was released on PC and Xbox One in 2016, before coming to PlayStation 4 the following year. Speaking about the Nintendo Switch port, lead game designer, Howard Philpott, says:

“Seeing the all the love from players for the original release of The Turing Test was overwhelming for our small team – and now 3 years later being able to bring that experience to a host of new players in their homes (and on the go!) is extremely exciting for us. We can’t wait to share those moments of puzzle, exploration and discovery with a totally new audience on the Nintendo Switch!”

The Turning Test - Nintendo Switch

The game is one of a number of titles developed in Unreal Engine 4 to make the leap to Nintendo Switch. If the likes of Fortnite, Abzü, and Dragon Quest XI are any indication, the game should be perfectly at home on the small (or large) screen.

Take a look at The Turing Test in action in the new Switch trailer. The game will be released via the Nintendo eShop on February 7, 2020. It’s priced at £14.99/$19.99/€19.99 and comes with a 10% discount at launch.
