Can you play as a female protagonist in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla?
Yes. You can. It’s cool, isn’t it?
You’d be forgiven for not realising, though. Almost all of the marketing for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla shows Eivor, the game’s protagonist, as a big beardy bloke Viking.
But you can also choose to play as female Eivor, as confirmed by Ubisoft and this photo of the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla collector’s edition:
Also, this screenshot includes the female version of protagonist Eivor, but it’s hard to tell because she’s hidden behind a massive shield and pauldron:
(The only reason we know that’s female Eivor is that the filename of the image we downloaded from the Ubisoft press pack is ‘ACV_screen_Announce_Iconic England_Female_Eivor’.)
And believe it or not, that’s also female Eivor in the header image at the top of its article, but it’s hard to tell unless you zoom in a bit:
(The PR shot filename is a clue here, too. This one’s called ‘ACV_screen_Announce_Drakkar_Female_Eivor’.)
You’d almost think that Ubisoft was playing down the female protagonist option in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, perhaps because of some bad elements in the audience?
